Math Lesson Plans

Here are some lesson plans that address standards and integrate technology and your curriculum.

TISS - Technology Integration Scope and Sequence, though pre-dating Canvastic, has dozens of K-5 lesson plans that integrate standards based curriculum and publishing software. Canvastic will be an excellent tool for many of those activities.

Angles is a great way to reinforce the concepts taught in early geometry. In the activity the students use the computer graphics tools in Canvastic to create angle diagrams of certain measurements. It can be adapted to whatever levels of geometric angles have been taught or need to be practiced. It can be a short one session activity or can span multiple days as an on-going practice activity. It could also be used as an assessment of that knowledge. Grades 4-6.

Geometry Practice is a great way to reinforce the concepts taught in early geometry. In the activity the students use the computer graphics tools in Canvastic to create labeled examples of the geometric forms, angles, shapes etc. that they learn about in math class. It can be adapted to whatever concepts have been taught or need to be practiced. It can be a short one session activity or can span multiple pages and become a geometry notebook. It could be used as an assessment of that knowledge. Grades 4-6.

Make Tens is a great math integration activity for students that are beginning their study of place value, especially groups of ten. The students learn to use the graphic tools to quickly make their own personal set of 10. Then they learn to duplicate their sets and make 20, 30, 40 and so on. This is a fast activity and can be repeated during a typical computer class with different numbers. Grades K-2.

Ruler is a great way to reinforce the concepts taught in early geometry. In the activity the students use the computer graphics tools in Canvastic to create lines of certain lengths. It can be adapted to whatever levels of geometric angles have been taught or need to be practiced. It can be a short one session activity or can span multiple days as an on-going practice activity. It could also be used as an assessment of that knowledge. Grades 3-4.

Write a Book(let) is a generic plan for publishing material in a booklet form. Publishing in this form can make any curriculum integration motivating and useful. Any content that has more than one part can be adapted to be published into a booklet. These booklets do not require printing on both sides of the paper!
